Most people don’t have access to world-class gyms unless they live in a city. It doesn’t mean you need to miss out. If you have a large basement sitting empty, you’ll be able to build a fantastic gym inside your home.

It’s something you should consider if you love working out, but it will cost a little money. Let’s look at some things you’ll need to include for maximum results. Everyone in your neighborhood will want to train with you.

  1. Choose Your Main Goals

Would you rather run on your treadmill while staring out your St.Catherines windows, or lift 5 sets of 5 reps on deadlift? Most people who exercise want to improve their cardiovascular health or lift heavy weights.

The largest area in your gym should be dedicated to the equipment you’ll use regularly. You can put a few weights or a random cardio machine in the small section. Make sure you have enough room to stretch and do yoga.

  1. Lay Down Rubber Floors

It’s possible to fill your basement gym with rubber flooring, but make sure it’s not the cheapest you can find because it tends to smell. It can also get pretty cold in winter, so you might need carpets to keep you warm.

If you lay down carpet everywhere, it’s possible to put rubber mats under your equipment. You’ll be able to move everything when it’s time to clean. Just make sure everything is stable because you don’t want to hurt yourself.

  1. Quality Air Circulation

You might need a few more Canadian Choice windows in Etobicoke to ensure enough air gets inside. It’s good to keep your windows open during training sessions, even when it’s cold outside. You don’t want the gym to get stinky.

If you install a couple of fans on the ceiling, it will help circulate the air around. Scatter some plants around if you have enough space. Not only will they look nice, but they’ll pump more oxygen into the air.

  1. Lots Of Natural Light

If you have bushes in front of your basement windows, you’ll need to rip them up. Cut tree branches in your garden if they’re stopping sunlight from getting to your new gym. You’ll appreciate as much natural light as possible.

One single light in the middle of your basement isn’t enough. If your gym is split into different sections, you’ll need a light in each one. The room will look brighter if you have mirrors hanging on the walls.

  1. A Nice Place To Relax

Where will you relax once you’ve spent an hour lifting heavy weights? You can run upstairs to the shower, but slipping into a sauna in your gym is even better. Maybe you’ll have enough space for a sauna and steam room.

If you don’t have enough space in your basement, think about putting a hot tub in your garden. It’s the perfect place to relax after a tough session. You will feel like a million bucks looking up at the stars while you recover.

Say Goodbye To Commercial Gyms

Once you build your dream gym in your basement, you’ll never need to visit a commercial one again. It won’t be long until you’re fitter than you’ve ever been in your life.
